How to Create a Happy Mother's Day from a Distance

This is probably not your first Mother's Day message you'll read but I'm hoping it will be the most helpful one!

As the days roll by unmarked by commutes to work, picking the kids up from school, dinner dates with friends and so on, it can be easy for them to bleed into each other and fly right by. I mean... how many times have you had to stop and reaaaallly think about what day of the week it is, let alone the day of the month!

Chances are Mother's Day snuck up on you and now you're stressing about how in the heck you're going to make momma feel special from afar.

Here are a few ideas!

1) FACE TIME

Even if you're tired of all the FaceTime or Teams or Skype, even if your Mom doesn't know how to use it or will only ever point the phone at her dogs, even if your reception is kind of crappy and it keeps cutting in and out... try to get some virtual face time with your Mom this weekend. She just wants to see your beautiful face and know that you're thinking of her.

Want to go the extra mile?

Round up the whole family and plan a virtual group trivia night! Nothing makes a Momma happier than seeing her whole family together having fun!

2) SEND HER FLOWERS

It's a simple, thoughtful and affordable gesture that goes a long way! Most florists are offering online or phone purchases with options for pickup or delivery!

3) SEND FOOD

The whole topic of food can be kind of a stressful thing right now. Some people are struggling to find things they need on the shelves, others are struggling with having too much in the house and not being able to resist those comforting treats... and others just miss having other people cook for them!!

Generally momma's appreciate someone else taking care of, or a least helping them out with, the food stuffs! Here are a couple of ways you can support your mom's mental and physical health this Mother's Day by sending some helpful & healthy food options her way:

Consider setting her up with a subscription box!

There are some fantastic ways to get healthy groceries delivered straight to your door! Buy your momma her first healthy food box to see if she likes and set her up for success! Options will vary depending on where you are in the world, but if you happen to be in the GTA here are some of my favs:

  • TruLocal: This is the place to get your choice of high-quality meats delivered right to your door. They've got EVERYTHING from grass-fed beef to wild-caught fish and you can totally customize your box and order weekly, monthly... WHENEVER!

  • Fresh City Farms: This organic local grocery delivery service has grown over the years to include delivery of not only fresh organic produce but all of your favourite health food products as well, including some fantastic healthy meat options. They even have some healthy premade meals like salad jars and smoothies as well as some meal kits. This could be an all in one for the momma who is NOT down for the cooking-at-home all the time quarantine life.

  • UrthBox: This is a fun option, especially if your mom is a snacker and has been struggling with going too far on the not-so-healthy options. This subscription box delivers delicious AND NUTRITIOUS snack products for you to sample each month.

  • Cocoa Courriers: And if you really just want to support your momma's love for chocolate but maybe help her to mix it up and try the darker (healthier!) variety, this is the one to go with. Cocoa Courriers send a fresh box of different artisan chocolates (mostly organic & fair trade!) to your door each month. What a treat!

Put an order through on Instacart!

If you don't want to necessarily go all in on a subscription box, you could just pick and choose what you want to send her from your local grocery store and have it delivered to her door! On Instacart you can send her anything from some healthy green juices to her favourite chocolates... some stores will even ship flowers this way!

Pick her up some dinner from a favourite restaurant!

Many restaurants are still open for pick up or delivery. This weekend, consider grabbing your mom one of her favourite meals form a restaurant she's been missing and delivering it to her door. Just make sure you knock, leave it at the door and back up 6 feet before saying hello, wishing her a happy Mother's Day and telling her how much you love her.

4) SEND THE SPA TO HER

Since the classic Mother's Day move of sending you Mom to the spa is out of the question at the moment, why don't you send the spa to her? Pick a few key pampering products to send to your Mom with instructions for a little self-care.

Of course, I always recommend you go with products that are safest for you and your Mom's health. Here are some fantastic clean products that will make your Momma feel like a totally pampered princess:

  • Charcoal Facial Mask: Spa night is officially on with this 10-minute charcoal mask! This nutrient-rich kaolin clay mask with activated charcoal purifies and balances, absorbing excess oil and drawing out impurities. 97% of people said this mask helped to refine and smooth the skin and 87% said the mask detoxified pores and purified the skin. Plus... it forces you to just chill for 10 minutes and that's exactly what momma needs right now!

  • Tetrapeptide Supreme Cream: After making, momma will need to hydrate her skin. Why not throw in this luxurious, age-defying dream cream! Intensely rich and deeply hydrating, this cream supports elasticity and visibly firms while minimizing the look of fine lines and wrinkles. 97% of people said they experienced instant and lasting hydration!

  • Lemongrass Sugar Body Scrub: Then, treat momma to our hydrating, skin-smoothing body scrub! While brown sugar buffs away dull skin, hydrating sweet almond, apricot kernel, and sunflower oils and mineral-rich evening primrose leave skin looking supple and smoooooth. It also really provides those spa-vibes with its fresh & invigorating blend of pure citrus and lemongrass oils. I'm seriously more chill just thinking about it.

  • Melting Body Balm: Once again, we're gonna wanna follow that up with some moisture, baby! This beauty is more than a moisturizer - this is a freaking vacation for your senses! Infused with an intoxicating moon scent, this luxurious balm transforms into an oil as it melts into the skin. It's nourishing formula features organ and avocado oils, which helps hydrate and soften, giving skin a healthy-looking glow. It gives you the full at-home spa relaxation sensation!

By the way, you can get these products at 20% off at the moment so that's a win-win all around!

5) SEND YOUR MOMMA SOME PERSONALIZED MEAL PLANS

During this time I am offering free phone consultations to discuss your meal planning needs and preferences so that I can personalize plans just for you!

If you've been trying to get used to cooking dinner every night, planning ahead so you're only grocery shopping once a week or ordering them online, and you've never done this before, it can be SO overwhelming. Having a plan can be key to organizing your time, shopping, spending and sticking with your health goals during this unprecedented time! Chances are, your momma has looked our for your needs and made sure that you had the food you needed all your life. Now is the perfect opportunity to return the favour.

You can gift your mom with a 1, 2 or a set of meal plans at $55 for one week of personalized meal planning! Just hit reply to this email and let me know if you're interested or click here to book a discovery call and discuss all your options!

I hope you found this helpful and it has inspired you to send your mom love, health & happiness this Mother's Day!

Many thanks to all the Mother's out there! You're amazing. I don't know where I'd be without my Momma (LOVE YOU MUSMIE!).
